Our packaging
Food waste is a huge problem for our environment. If it were an emitting country, it would be the 3rd largest emitter after the USA and China. Around 1/3rd of the food produced is wasted, and most of that is edible.
The resources going into that cultivation and production, as well as the gases released on decomposition in landfill are harmful for our planet. Plastic accounts for <1% of the emissions in the bakery process.
It's estimated that without plastic packaging bread waste would be 20% higher (it's already the second most wasted food in the UK). Thankfully, we are proud to offer our bread products in home-compostable packaging. So, keeping plastic out of landfill that's a big win for our planet.
Our boxes and the content within are fully recyclable.
We're saying goodbye to compostable bags.
Here at Earth & Wheat HQ we are always looking for ways to reduce food waste whilst providing a variety of tasty and fresh products for you, our rescue warriors.
Recent research has shown that not only do compostable bags limit the shelf life of fresh foods, but it’s also not as widely accepted by nature as we thought.
We have therefore removed all compostable packaging and replaced with recyclable plastic bags to allow you to enjoy your fresh breads for longer at home.
